Picnic in the park
On Tuesday of this week I met up with my Spanish friend Cristina for a picnic in Parque Invierno, definitely the most beautiful park in the city. It is huge with play grounds for kids to play in, running and walking trails, a skateboard park, and is surrounded by mountains. I brought a ham and cheese sandwich and fruit and Cristina brought a bocadillo and chips. A bocadillo is the same thing as a sandwich but on long french bread which is much more typical here. We talk mostly only in Spanish so its awesome for me to practice. I helped Cristina study for her English exam that is coming up in June. The review book is very hard and very technical. I would never know any of the answers by just studying, the only way you real learn is by talking with someone who speaks the language. There is one exercise that has sentences with missing words and you are not even given options for how to fill it in! After a few hours in the park we walked to this cafe/bar where everything is 1 euro! Drinks and tapas are all just 1 Euro. After that I walked to a cafe near my house and met with my other language partner Andres. With Andres we bring a sheet of paper with topics and questions we can talk about and have our dictionary for all the new words were learning. its basically like a study session of Spanish and English. It helps me a ton! After all those hours of speaking Spanish with Cristina and Andres my head hurt so bad I just went home and had to sleep!
